Who are Edanz?

Edanz has offered support services to researchers around the globe since 1995. Our mission is to empower scientists around the world as they navigate the complexities of the research cycle. In 2019 Edanz joined the M3 Group, which serves more than 2 million doctors worldwide. 

What is Learning Lab?

Learning lab is an online skills training-and-tools platform for researchers of all levels.

Who are the ‘Edanz 300’?

The “Edanz 300” is our global network of expert editors and research consultants. We are passionately committed to the ethical advancement of science and evidence-based practice.

What can I do with Learning Lab?

Learning Lab offers more than 1000 searchable topics organized concisely into courses that span the research cycle. There are many free resources such as videos, ebooks, and the Expert Blog.

How do I sign up?

Just click the blue “sign up” button to the top right and follow the prompts. 

Why sign up? 

Free membership gives you early access to new courses and features, special discounts on many Edanz services, and our informative newsletter (from which you can opt-out anytime).

How can I get access to Premium content?

Premium membership gives you full access to all content and tools, plus discounts on Edanz services. Memberships are available in Japan now, and will launch globally in Q3 2020.

How do I get a discount for my group (university, lab, society, hospital, etc.)?

Contact us! We will give you a quote. 

How do I join my group’s subscription?

Does it work on (Mac, PC, iOS, iPad, Android…)?

Yes — the site looks and works great on nearly any device or browser.

Is there an offline app?

Not yet, but we are working on it. Sign up for our newsletter to get updated!

Curriculum and Courses 

In what order should I take the courses?

There is no special order for taking the courses. Before you start any stage of your research cycle (such as writing), try a course or two for that stage (such as ‘Research Writing 1’). 

What do those little colored hexagons mean?

Each hexagon represents the nine skills/stages of the research cycle. All of Learning Lab’s topics/posts are tagged with one or more of these skills/stages. 

Is Learning Lab useful for non-medical researchers? 

Yes. Although Edanz Learning Lab is part of the M3 Group for medical professionals, our courses apply to researchers of all disciplines. 

How do I download worksheets and checklists?

Many lessons have bonus downloadable PDF materials. If you see “Course materials” on a course page, or “Lesson materials” on a lesson page, click to view/download the PDF.

How do I earn certificates?

Completing all topics of a lesson automatically completes that lesson. Completing all lessons of a course automatically completes that course. You will then get that course’s certificate, which you can see on your ‘My Courses’ page.

How do I search for a topic?

Click the magnifying glass in the top right of your screen.

How do I start a course?

First sign in or sign up. On any course page, click ‘Start course’. 

Where can I see all my courses?

You can see all your courses on the ‘My Courses’ page.

How do I navigate courses/lessons/topics?

The hierarchy is Course → Lesson → Topic. The left sidebar (when not in focus mode) lists all topics and lessons for the current course. On any topic page, you can also use the arrow buttons and breadcrumbs to navigate. 

What is focus mode? What is night mode? 

On any topic page, click the diagonal arrows to enable focus mode (hide the left sidebar) for distraction-free studying.

On any topic page, click the ‘moon’ icon (top right) to enable night mode (light text on a dark background) which is easier on the eyes at night.

Where can I see the transcript notes of slideshows?

Most slideshows have transcript notes. Click the hamburger icon (‘=’) at the top left of the slide window and click on ‘Notes’.

What is ‘My Protocol’?

My Protocol is a unique tool set for planning and publishing systematic reviews. It currently has templates for PICO, PRISMA, and PROSPERO, with more templates on the way.

What is ‘My Manuscript’?

My Manuscript is a powerful, collaborative tool set for outlining, writing, editing, and submitting research manuscripts. It allows any number of researchers to collaborate on any number of manuscripts. 

What is ‘Journal Selector’?

Journal Selector is a search engine for finding the ideal journal for your research paper. Input keywords (i.e. from your abstract) and answer the prompts to generate a list of suitable journals.
